iGigBook Notes In Action!

Availble on the App Store

Take a look at what musicians around the world are saying about iGigBook:

From The USA:

Stopped carrying all my Real Books to gigs! - ★★★★★

by vvvv - Version 1.63 - Apr 16, 2012

No more heavy books to lug to gigs and rehearsals! Gig list feature great, too!

Great. - ★★★★★

by MuzicWiz - Version 1.63 - Apr 6, 2012

It is the best one for gigs I have found so far.

iGigBook - ★★★★★

by Matt121212shorty - Version 1.63 - Apr 4, 2012

Awesome app. I'm a musician and teacher and I use it everyday.

IGigBook - ★★★★★

by Keysman88 - Version 1.61 - Mar 12, 2012

This is an excellent app as it is. I agree with other reviewers about the need for some additional features, but even so, it is very useful at gigs to quickly find a song or create a set list. I recommend it!

The best - ★★★★★

by yvesbajulaz - Version 1.61 - Mar 3, 2012

I use it everyday. They are always fixing problems right away. Top notch company. Nothing beats it when it comes to using realbooks. I don't ever take paperbooks with me anymore. Thanks guys, For guys like me who don't have all the tunes memorized, you are a "life" saver...

Great App for working musicians! - ★★★★★

by TonyFabulous - Version 1.60 - Feb 22, 2012

I no longer have to carry any of my fake books! Love it! I welcome all new updates!

If you are a gigging musician there really is no better choice than this app. - ★★★★★

by BbMajMan - Version 1.60 - Feb 6, 2012

Many of the musicians I know are always trying to find a method to easily locate tunes amongst the myriad of books they own both on and off the band stand and iGigBook does this very well and makes anything else look like it has no idea what the working pro actually needs or wants. I couldn't see myself showing up to a gig with any of the other apps after using this one due to its ability to quickly search through my entire musical library. Having access to over 1200 chord charts that I can transpose is the icing on the cake and is like having 2 apps in one. Many have complained about the time consuming setup but if you read the wealth of information provided on the forum and actually follow the directions, the setup is a breeze. I've done many gigs with this app and have yet to have it fail me, no crashes, no suprises...I lke that. I use iGigBook because I gig!

Love It! - ★★★★★

by Rich Fehle - Version 1.60 - Feb 6, 2012

Me and my fellow players in our group couldn't exist without it! Igig book is an absolute must have for musicians

Fantastic! - ★★★★★

by Mcpoojan - Version 1.60 - Feb 5, 2012

The best thing since sliced bread! Addresses the problem of having .pdf music books on my iPad with no quick way to find or access the song I wanted to play. A huge THANK YOU to the developers of this most useful app!

I gigbook - ★★★★★

by Gigmanman - Version 1.60 - Feb 3, 2012

This is a must-have for any gigging musician. The ability to have all of my fake books in one place, along with the ability to search for specific titles, and scanning in my own charts is invaluable.

Great AP, no problems - ★★★★

by American In Japan - Version 1.60 - Feb 2, 2012

This is a great AP. I had had no problems syncing fake books and I love the indexing and set list building options. The email set list feature is awesome. I use the on-line sync service and have not had a problem. I had to adjust the number of blank pages on a couple of the books I scanned, but I didn't have any problem figuring out how. I have about 12 complete books loaded now. I gave it 4 stars because I wish I could annotate the pages to mark the form of the song (such as the order of the solos and how we want to start and finish).

AWESOME APP!! - ★★★★★

by PlayzSax - Version 1.60 - Jan 31, 2012

I can't tell you how many times I use this app. All my fake books and sheet music in one place, AWESOME!

Crowd Pleaser - ★★★★★

by Std Man - Version 1.59 - Jan 22, 2012

I used iGigBook on a solo piano gig recently. A guest requested some Gershwin. Well, after playing the two songs that came to mind, I did a composer search and had a dozen to choose from. Pretty soon everybody was trying to stump the piano player. Nobody did, it was awesome. The client was thrilled, I looked like a genius. I couldn't be happier. Get this app!

Good app for quick searches - ★★★★

by Jazztao - Version 1.59 - Jan 16, 2012

Great app for quick searches. Wish developer would put in better support for Bluetooth page turning in both directions

iGigBook - ★★★★

by Jay DblYou - Version 1.59 - Jan 16, 2012

Handy tool to have on a gig. I have a big library at my disposal at all times.

Shows promise to be the last gig app you - ★★★★★

by saxywaxy - Version 1.59 - Jan 13, 2012

I love this app in the last 2 days I have had it. It IS still young though, and as such, is missing a few features (that the developer has already been working on) that are important. Once the later versions have these implemented, its a 5 star program that has everything.

PROS:
A growing list of indexes to popular (and less popular) fake books. THIS IS HUGE. It eliminates hours of tedious work. This sold me on the program. If you have a lot of books, it simply is unrealistic to get any other program.
I have over 25 different pdf books loaded into it, and it has a search feature that goes across all of them.
The developer is ongoing in his improvement and tweaking. I spotted two errors, posted them, and inside of 30 minutes, they were fixed…for everyone with the program.
The developer is listening to improvements to add, and talking with users.

CONS:
No annotating (though developer says this is in the works)
No quick easy print button (thought print is possible)
No quick easy online index sharing for currently unsupported books (though sharing is possible between band members, and you CAN make the index yourself)
Indexes are quite C version heavy, though the top 10 most popular Eb and Bb books are indexed. This will be good enough for 95% of people.
No sub libraries as of yet. This means when I search, it searches ALL of my books. Not that major, but a minor annoyance
Page turns sometimes aren't super fast… I think it may be my own pdfs are not optimized… I will check and revise.

This App makes the iPad a really useful sheet music display for Jazz Gigs. Brilliant! I use it all the time! I would hate to be without it.

Excellent and unique - ★★★★★

by piano lizzard - Version 1.61 - Mar 3, 2012

I am the envy of my gigging friends - particularly for jam sessions. Using the app requires some learning and even now I am slightly confused about "offset" settings but this is my fault for not spending time understanding how to fine-tune the app. Unique app for specific purpose of easy access to library of music PDF files (gig/real books).

Time consuming, but worth the effort! - ★★★★★

by Ger Rees - Version 1.59 - Jan 18, 2012

This app saves me huge amounts of time and bother. It's a fantastic idea that's well implemented.
I use iReal b at gigs because it's easier to skim read chords than lead sheets, but iGigBook is ideal for gigging if you prefer to have the lead sheet!

The ability to search all twenty odd realbook's on my iPad for a tune rather than do it the old way (look in the index for each one individually) is so much easier and more convenient that it alone makes the app worth every penny...

But...

Don't expect to click "install" and be ready to gig.
Firstly you will need to spend an hour (or more) in google to find the realbook pdf's you need. (Not included in app.)
You also need to make sure they are named correctly.
(Full details on developer website.)
That said this app is well worth the setup time, if you're a jazz musician then this is a must have app for your iPad.

Fantastic app for the gigging musician - ★★★★★

by Chris Neill Music - Version 1.59 - Jan 17, 2012

This app is fantastic! As previous reviewers have said it isn't completely intuitive to set up and you need to supply the content (not difficult though if you know how to use Google …). If you are looking for "install and go" this isn't the app for you. But spend a bit of time setting it up and it is absolutely incredible.

Use it now instead of lugging books - ★★★★★

by Ja33y - Version 1.60 - Feb 1, 2012

No longer lug my books around - now I've got it properly set up. Fiddly to set up initially and you do need to have the PDF books with all the pages in them. But once you have then all ok. That's why only four stars not five.

From Austria:

Perfekte Notenverwaltung, erfordert aber Einarbeitung! - ★★★★★

by Eagle_08 - Version 1.60 - Mar 1, 2012

Great application that does what it promises - ★★★★★

by simonstandaert - Version 1.59 - Jan 13, 2012

Hello,

I purchased the iGigBook today and am very happy with the result.
It takes a while (took me some 2 hours) to sync and rename all my books, adjust the page offset, get the 1200 songs for which iGigBook offers transposable chords, etc. but the result is wonderful. I can now search for a song and can immediately see the different versions I have in my real/fake books and add the ones i like to a setlist.
I love for instance that I can now switch between two versions of a song easily (for instance the same song in a new realbook and the real vocal book; i like to have lyrics for singing but like the ledgibility of the new real book more).

I doubted a while before purchasing the app because I saw on the iGigBook forum some people had troubles with the application.I am now very glad I bought it. It takes a bit of time to get everything set up but everything is explained on the forum and does work. And think of the time it saves me trying to look for the right version of a song during rehearsals or on stage.

I'll be off and create some setlists now :-).

Great tool and app for musicians. - ★★★★★

by Malbusca - Version 1.61 - Mar 3, 2012

No more carrying around a big heavy slow book of charts and music. Easy access to all your charts and onstage use is wonderful. Send sets and songs to other members of the band and no confusion and saves time. Highly recommend this app to all who play am instrument and perform live on stage with the ease of all your music at a swipe of your finger ..... A must app for all musicians. Peter P

by Casablanca Jazz - Version 1.59 - Dec 30, 2011

This app is the reason I bought an iPad. I have just put together my first set list and emailed it to the band, and everything worked just like it is supposed to. It was easy to load charts via iTunes. Once loaded it was quick to select charts into a set list for a gig, and slick emailing everything to band members when I had finished.

My set list was a mix of scanned charts and typed lyric/chord charts that I saved as PDFs.

I had been a bit worried about the screen size being a bit smaller than A4, but the clear bright screen compensated for that. Just make sure you don't use a small font size; I would recommend at least size 14 font. Courier works better than more modern fonts. Also, making chord names bold helps them stand out from the lyrics.

Although all of the above is sufficient for me to be delighted with this purchase, There are three things that haven't worked well. I am not sure whether this is because of limitations in the product or because I am new to it and just haven't learned what to do yet. These points are as follows:

1. I was delighted to find 1200 transposable charts were included with the app. However when I included some of these in a set list, they didn't email to band members. Maybe they don't save as true PDFs. If I could overcome this limitation it would greatly improve the value of the app.

2. Forming charts I loaded myself into different chart books is not particularly efficient. I am just selecting from charts in "my scores" at present. As I load more charts this will become less efficient. Also, I haven't worked out yet how to include charts in "my scores" in searches. I am not even sure if this is doable.

3. The charts always appear in alphabetical order in set lists. If they can be reordered into the order I want to play them I haven't learned how to do that yet.

Fantastische muziekboek lezer. - ★★★★

by Geen support - Version 1.59 - Jan 25, 2012

No more "I dont have that song, I can't find that in my key". No more searching through all the worn and torn real and fakebooks to find where that song was and in the right key. Now you just point at "search song" and right on see what books have the song and what version. Just get it will you?

From Switzerland:

Interessante App. - ★★★★

by Peeardee - Version 1.60 - Feb 5, 2012
